The Second City

Northern Arts & Entertainment presents The Second City on September 12th and 13th in the forest Roberts Theatre. The Second City is a long-running improvisational comedy group based in Chicago's Old Time neighborhood. Now, they will be making their way to NMU's campus to provide 2 nights of laughter and joy. Sponsored by Northern Arts & Entertainment, admission is $2.00 for NMU students and $5.00 for non-students.

Late Night at the PEIF

Greek Council is once again presenting Late Night at the PEIF on August 22, 2008 at 10:00 P.M. - 2:00 A.M. at the PEIF and Berry Events Center. There will be games, a DJ, entertainment, and a chance to win a variety of prizes. Admission is free to all students who pass the breathalyzer test with a .00 reading.

Scott Klinker

The Industrial Designers Society of America (ISDA) will be hosting a lecture with Scott Klinker on Thursday, April 25th in room 165 of the Art and Design Building. Scott Klinker is an author and designer who is the current Artist in Residence at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Professor Klinker will likely discuss entrepreneurship, marketing, and environmentalism with a common theme being design. Admission is free to NMU students and $3.00 for non-students.

Howard Lyman

The Sustainable Agriculture Club presents Howard Lyman, a well-known farmer, speaker, and author, on April 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms. Mr. Lyman was one of the first individuals to bring the issue of Mad Cow Disease to light here in United States and even appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. He has made it his life work to bring the realities of industrial farming into the public conscience and most recently has created a sustainable agriculture foundation called Voice for Viable Future that supports the further development of sound farming practices. Admission is free to both students and non-students.

Laughing at Alcohol Awareness

Lambda Chi Alpha introduces Patrick Fisher on Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m. in Jamrich 102. Mr. Fisher is a nationally acclaimed stand-up comedian whose personal battle with alcoholism has led him to develop a comical and thought-provoking routine. Students who attend will be given the opportunity to win a variety of door prizes. Admission is free to NMU students and $3.00 for non-students.

12th Annual Jazz Festival

The NMU Friends of Jazz will be presenting violinist Randy Sabien on Friday, April 18th at 7:30 p.m. in Kaufman Auditorium. Mr. Sabien will also conduct a clinic in the afternoon. A performer in our regional area, and an outstandingly energetic man, Mr. Sabien will be sure to leave the audience with a tune stuck in their heads and a lesson in the students minds. This event is free to everyone.

Ann Coulter

The NMU College Republicans present Ann Coulter on April 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Vandament Arena. Ann Coulter is a lawyer and conservative author. She writes on legal and political issues and is a frequent guest on many hit TV shows. She will be speaking at NMU about current events in the United States and the 2008 Presidential Election. Admission prices are $5 for NMU students and $15 for non-students.
